Gravity casting aluminum refers to the process of injecting molten metal into the mold under the action of the earth's gravity, also known as gravity casting. Gravity casting in the broad sense includes sand casting, metal casting, investment casting, EPC, slurry casting, etc.; gravity casting in the narrow sense mainly refers to metal casting. The processing methods of making metal materials into products include casting, forging, extrusion, rolling, drawing, stamping, cutting, powder metallurgy, etc. Among them, casting is the most basic, commonly used and widely used process.

3. Sand casting is a traditional casting process with sand as the main molding material. Generally, gravity casting is used for sand mold, and low pressure casting, centrifugal casting and other processes can be used when there are special requirements. Sand casting has a wide range of adaptability, small, large, simple, complex, single, quality can be used. The mold for sand casting is usually made of wood, commonly known as wood mold. Except for single sand mold, it has high dimensional accuracy and long service life.
Although the price has increased, it is still much cheaper than the metal mold. In small batch and large batch production, the price advantage is particularly prominent. In addition, the refractoriness of sand mold is higher than that of metal mold, so the materials with higher melting point, such as copper alloy and ferrous metal, also adopt this process. However, there are some disadvantages of sand casting: because each sand casting can only be poured once, the mold is damaged after the casting is obtained, and must be reshaped, the production efficiency of sand casting is low; and because the overall nature of sand casting is soft and porous, the size accuracy of sand casting is low, and the surface is very rough. However, after years of technology accumulation, the surface condition of sand casting has been greatly improved, and the effect of shot peening is equivalent to that of metal casting.
